Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer a nursery for young children?

We have an all volunteer nursery available for children under age 2 during the following times:

9:00 Sunday School
10:15 Worship Service
6:00 PM Worship Service
7pm Wednesday night Bible study for ages birth to Pre-K

During the 10:15 Worship Service, children above age 2 remain with their families in the worship service and are dismissed to Children’s Church just before the morning sermon. This gives parents the opportunity to gradually introduce their young children to the full hour of worship.

Do you have any children’s activities?

We have youth classes on Sunday evenings and Wednesday evenings for grades K – 5th ; Jr./Sr. High ages.

We have a full time Youth Director, Jonathan Bailey, who provides discipleship and activities for the Jr./Sr. High youth.

To what denomination does Grace Presbyterian Church belong?

Grace Presbyterian Church belongs to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA is a relatively young denomination, having been formed in 1973. The PCA is committed to the infallibility and authority of the Bible and the primacy of the Great Commission, with our roots in the truths of the Reformation.

What are the church’s fundamental beliefs?

We hold to the historical teachings of the Bible, as outlined in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Shorter Catechism and Larger Catechism. For a synopsis of our beliefs, just click here.

What is the history of the church?

The church was organized January 30, 1977 with about 50 charter members.

We met in the pastor’s residence for 3 years before purchasing a portion of the present church property on Butternut Avenue. A pre-fab building was constructed in 1979 which housed the church, the Sunday School, and the pastor’s family. In 1984, the church built an educational building which housed additional Sunday School space and a Fellowship Hall.

Since that time, the church has acquired an acre of property adjacent to the original lot. In 1990, the pre-fab building was razed and the present sanctuary was built and a second floor was added to the educational building.

In 2004, the Fellowship Hall was remodeled and we acquired a house on the south side of the church which we hope to use for Sunday School space and future church expansion.

Our congregation, as of January, 2006, has a membership of approximately 150 members (communing and non-communing).

How do I become a member of Grace Presbyterian Church?

You are strongly encouraged, but not required, to attend a 13 week class on Reformed Theology which is taught during the 9:30 AM Sunday School hour. This class is offered 3 times a year during the fall, winter and spring quarters.

Children age 15 and above are strongly encouraged to attend the Pastor’s 13-week Communicant’s Class which is offered once a year, usually in the fall.

All prospective members are required to meet with the Session (which meets at 9:15 AM every Sunday morning) to give a profession of faith and answer the 5 questions for church membership:

1. Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope save in His sovereign mercy?

2. Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

3. Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?

4. Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?

5. Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

Those who have made a profession of faith in Christ, have been baptized, and admitted by the Session to the Lord’s Table, are entitled to all the rights and privileges of the church.
